Small Bathroom Makeover | Fiberglass Stall to Custom Walk-In Shower

The Challenge & The Vision

Nothing gets us more fired up than a chance to absolutely demolish an old, sad, beige fiberglass shower stall.

We found this incredible Mediterranean-style patterned tile and knew right away it had to be the star of the show. We built the whole design around it, creating this huge, bold accent wall in the new walk-in shower. To make that pattern really sing, we surrounded it with these massive, sophisticated marble-look porcelain tiles. It gives you that super high-end feel without all the fuss.

And because we're obsessed with the details, we couldn't resist echoing that gorgeous pattern in a custom little nook we built behind the toilet! Of course, the whole look is warmed up with brushed gold fixtures - from the new rainfall shower head to all the matching hardware.

Honestly, this project is what we live for. Taking a boring box and turning it into something beautiful and sublime by playing with bold patterns and high-end design? That’s our jam. That's high-end shower design, Enlightened Remodeling style.

The undeniable focal point of this bathroom is the stunning, Mediterranean-inspired patterned tile. Used as a full feature wall in the shower and as a cohesive backsplash behind the vanity, this intricate blue and white tile injects vibrant character and a custom, artisanal feel into the entire space.

Expertly Mixed Patterns and Materials

This design masterfully balances three distinct tile selections for a rich, layered look. The bold, decorative accent tile is perfectly contrasted with the timeless elegance of large-format, marble-look porcelain on the surrounding walls. Underfoot, classic white hexagon floor tiles add another layer of geometric interest without overwhelming the space.

Cohesive Brushed Gold & Navy Accents

Warm, brushed gold finishes provide a consistent thread of luxury, appearing on the rain shower head, faucet, vanity hardware, and towel bars. This metallic is beautifully paired with the deep navy blue vanity, a color choice that purposefully draws out the rich blues of the accent tile for a perfectly coordinated design.
