Install the largest mirror the wall can handle, ideally a simple, frameless one. It will bounce light around and visually double the size of the room. Paint the walls, trim, and ceiling the same light, bright color. This blurs the edges of the room, making it feel more expansive and airy. And remove that clunky tub and install a walk-in shower with a low profile curb.

The space between your wall studs is a goldmine. Install a recessed medicine cabinet instead of a bulky one. Build recessed niches into the shower walls to hold shampoo and soap. You can even build a tall, recessed cabinet for towels and supplies, so it sits flush with the wall. Add a few floating shelves high on a wall for attractive storage

Replacing the old shower insert and curtain with a tiled, open-concept shower removes a major visual barrier, making the entire room feel larger. The choice of tile enhances this sense of depth. A patterned accent tile on the shower's back wall creates a focal point that draws the eye back.
