• For a timeless, classic feel: Another bath in the same home was designed to be airy and classic, honoring the house's traditional roots. We used timeless white subway tile, a simple pedestal sink, and let a beautiful, colorful stained-glass window serve as the stunning focal point.

When a client asks for "unique and full of personality," we get excited. In our Green Gradient Tile Bathroom, the vision was all about high-impact design. The showstopper is a tiled wall with a bold gradient of greens, from light lime to deep forest, dramatically contrasted by a graphic black-and-white geometric floor.

In our Traditional Earth Tone Bathroom, the project required us to move all the plumbing to get the shower and vanity in a more functional location. More importantly, we talked to the homeowner about her needs and built a custom "beauty bar" in a previously unused corner.

3. Curate Your Materials and Finishes

With a vision and a solid layout, it’s time for the fun part: selecting the materials that bring your style to life. This is where you can make a huge impact, often by thoughtfully combining textures and finishes.

• To Highlight an Original Feature: In our Modern Spa Retreat, the goal was to transform a dated bathroom while showcasing its stunning original stained-glass window. We chose a grey picket tile in a vertical orientation, as its geometric shape echoed the window. An ornate mosaic tile in the shower niche and on the floor adds a "wow" factor that complements, rather than competes with, the window.

• To Create a Cohesive Look: In that same spa retreat, we pulled in a natural element with a furniture-style wood vanity to add warmth. We then carried the brushed gold finish from the fixtures all the way to the new door hinges, creating a truly cohesive and high-end design.

• For Seamless Function: Materials can also enhance function. In the Green Gradient Bathroom, we built a custom ledge behind the tub. By wrapping it in the same green gradient tile, it flows seamlessly from the wall, creating an uninterrupted cascade of color that is both beautiful and highly practical.
